Love at First Sight
Burns House was the second home that Carlotta and Zuhair visited in NOTL in their quest, chaperoned by the ubiquitous local realtor, Joanne Brown of Century 21. More than 20 houses, four counties later, it remained their first choice. It didn’t matter that the ceilings in the guest rooms were low − after all they were built at a time when lower ceilings meant lower taxes. There was a welcoming charm to it that seemed to cast a spell on them each time they revisited the old home. Instead of checking for moisture in the basement or cracks in the walls, or flushing the toilet while the faucet was running, they dreamt of old newspapers and secret diaries stuffed in the walls. Each creak of a footstep echoed through the corridors of history and will for many more years as La Toscana di Carlotta evolves and matures.
Why a B&B in NOTL?
Carlotta and Zuhair are basically both traditional folks who love history, people, quaintness, culture, nice things, smiling faces, warmth, hospitality, and all those little quirks and quarks that make life worth living. In NOTL, we found all of those and wanted to add our share to the most charming and cosy little place in Ontario (how many places do you know that have one postal code − zip code for Americans − for the entire town!) In essence, all of the above is our service guarantee, of course, with all those other nice Italian specialties that we never stop promising!
